Scholastic Book Club

Dear families,

This year, our class is excited to read with Scholastic Book Clubs! It’s a great way to build up your child’s book collection at home and help them improve their reading skills. And when you shop with Clubs, your orders earn points I can redeem for books and other classroom supplies we need.

Here’s how it works: I’ll send home flyers like these throughout the year. If you decide to place an order, you can do that through our class ordering page. Your books will arrive at school about 10 days after I submit our classroom order.

By teaming up with Scholastic, we’ll help your child become a more confident, independent reader—and we’ll build a classroom library all of my students are excited to explore!

Order due date: 09/05/25
Shop our class page: https://orders.scholastic.com/WT8JF

Happy reading!

READ READ READ

While some children leave Kindergarten already reading proficiently, others don’t become true readers until First Grade. If your child is not already a confident reader, he should have these pre-reading skills in order to become a successful reader in First Grade:

  • Recognizes all uppercase and lowercase letters, as well as the sounds they make.
  • Can tell whether a pair of words have the same beginning or ending sound
  • Can identify rhyming words
  • Knows at least 25 Sight Words and can read them automatically.
  • Can sound out short three-letter words such as “cat” or “man” by blending the sounds together

The best way to help your child become a reader is to read to him and with him! Make reading together an important part of your routine, whether it is at bedtime, in the morning, or throughout the day. Reread familiar books and incorporate new ones.

As you read, talk about the characters and what they are doing. Ask your child questions, such as “What do you think will happen next?” or “Why do you think they did that?” Making reading interesting and fun will help build excitement around reading.

GETTING READY FOR A NEW SCHOOL YEAR (2025-26)

Getting Ready for the New School Year

I am excited to get to know about the students in my class!

Here is what you need to know about CLASSROOM SUPPLIES!
Most importantly your child will need GOOD HEADPHONES.  We are a technology school and your child will use their headphones everyday.  Have your child practice at home how to properly use and store them.  This will help them last longer.

Classroom Disclosure and Parent Handbook.
On this form you will find links for the Classroom Disclosure and Quest Handbook.
Once you have read over all of that information please fill out and submit the form.
This will need to be completed before the 1st day of school.
